Roy To Receive Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame!

Roy Orbison will be honored with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during an unveiling ceremony on January 29. His wife Barbara Orbison and their sons Roy Jr. and Alex are expected to attend the event.

"And now the journey continues," said Barbara, "with Roy Orbison's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."

About The Hollywood Walk of Fame: It began with the installation of a few demonstration stars in August 1958, the first of which was dedicated to actor Preston Foster. Officially dedicated in November 1960, the Walk now features 2,393 stars in the categories of television, radio, live theatre, motion pictures and recording. The Walk of Fame ceremonies draw international media attention and throngs of people to catch a glimpse of a favorite celebrity or Hollywood industry leader. It is one of the top tourist draws in Los Angeles and most recognizable images of Hollywood, along with The Hollywood Sign.

We're from England and we were in Hollywood in September 2009 looking for Roy's star on the Walk of Fame - we couldn't believe there wasn't one!!! Roy deserves a star far more than some of the so-called celebrities who already have one, and it's a real shame and a disgrace it's taken until now. Roy was a unique human being with a unique talent, is sorely missed by fans on this side of the pond and will continue to be so for many moons to come.

As a big fan of Roy Orbison since the early 60s i am so pleased that Roy is being honoured at last, he was and still is the greatest singer in the world, never again will we hear a voice such as his, and what a lovely man, and a great songwriter, i am sure that all his fans in the uk feel this way, not a day passes when i do not listen to a song or two and will never tire of doing so, its been great over the xmas period for us in the uk as we hear him every day on on a tv ad, Rock on Roy, wish i could be in LA for the ceremony.

This is so fabulous for Roy and his family. I have been listening to Roy all day long at my job today. Just can't get enough of this beautiful man's voice!! Roy forever.
