A compilation of Roy's best MGM songs.
I'm playing a compilation of some of my favorite Roy songs I made from his MGM singles and albums. The MGM years had some of Roy's best singing and he covered everything from top 40 pop to rock, blues and country. I would like to see a similar commericial release, - not just of the singles A-sides that we've already had.
The track list is:
Just Another Name for Rock and Roll
Pantomime
Where Is Tomorrow
Going Back to Gloria
You'll Never be Sixteen Again
Wait
Sugar and Honey
Girl Like Mine
Only Alive
Memories
It Takes One to Know One
Afraid to Sleep
Breaking Up Is Breaking my Heart
Crawling Back
Heading South
Tennessee Owns My Soul
God Love You
Plain Jane Country
Cheyenne
Run the Engines Up High
Memphis Tennessee
It Ain't No Big Thing
Danny Boy

I love Afraid to Sleep, and all them
great list. I love Pantomine and Roy does a great job with Memphis Tennesee
Some great songs there IN DREAMS my favorite song is In Dreams closely followed by Danny Boy i have heard lots of versions of this song but ROYS is so diffrent to any of the others MAGIC
Thanks for your comments, I enjoyed that
chicco and littleleah, I agree with you, Roy could do that with much covered songs, give them that little extra, so that you would discover them all over again (in this case Danny Boy and Memphis Tennessee). And Barb, to me Afraid to Sleep is the gem on this compilation, one of the best Roy songs that he didn't write himself
MMany great ones there. I would add "It Takes All Kinds of People" and "Heartache" to that list! I made a compilation of up-tempo Roy sonds several years ago, titled it "Roy Orbison Rocks" and took it with me to the fitness center to listen to. I had "Cheyene,""Memphis, Tennessee," "Girl Like Mine" and "Run the Engines Up High" among others on there. Not sure where that CD is now. I may have to make another one, which is OK because one of the songs got a little messed up in the burning process.
Forgot to mention that I had a cat named Cheyenne from 1988 (a month before Roy passed) until 1994.
On their store page they have an Roy MGM CD for sale. Looks good.
