Missed My Chance
Roy came to then small and sleepy town of Panama City, Florida (not Panama City Beach)sometime way back in the 60's. I was just a poor young Air Force brat who loved Roy's music. A friend and I had a grass mowing business that turned into a big business for two boys with a push mower and a trimmer that was operated by manual labor. I saved enough money to go and see Roy in concert at the new auditorium downtown. My parents told me that they would not drive me to the concert so I said that I would walk. Walking to town was something that all we boys did on a regular basis. Leg power was all we had. My parents said no because of the late hour that the concert would end. They did not want me out alone at that that hour. I still don't understand why the late hour had anything to do with my going to Roy's concert as it was pretty safe to walk anywhere in Panama City at that time. I missed what would be my only chance to see Roy in person.

Hi Mike long time since i have see any of your postings I Remember you from the old site
You missed a treat not seeing ROY in concert We were very lucky here in the U/K as ROY was a regular visitor for a lot of years so i had the privilege of meeting him three times and went to a few concerts As you will know he was a true gentleman on and off stage What a loss when he died still a relatively young man
