"You're The One"
My name's Simon Reid, last year my song-writing partner Louise Stanners (Reid & Stanners) and I recorded a version of Roy Orbison and Bill Dees song "You're The One" for a special tribute compilation called 'Roy Orbison - Under The Covers'.
The album features original covers of Roy Orbison songs recorded by up-coming unsigned artists from around the world, and was launched at the Gibson Guitar Centre in London on April 23rd 2009 (Roy's Birthday), and released worldwide on iTunes on Monday 27th April 2009. Louise and I were given the privilege of performing the song for Mrs. Orbison, Roy Jnr. and Alex at the Birthday event in London.
As it happens, that recording of "You're The One" now carries significantly more meaning for me personally. Sadly my Father passed away 3 weeks ago, and as he very much loved our version of "You're The One", my Mother felt it would be fitting to play it at his funeral. He was very proud of me and my achievements, and was constantly telling everyone that we had recorded one of Roy Orbison's songs! I'm sure you'll appreciate that forever more, that song will have a very special meaning for me, as I know it does for Mrs. Orbison.
