I'm a fan (and you should be too) because... I loved all his songs growing up, but I didn't know his name. Roy drove up to the bar in a really nice car, and I was driving a piece of junk. When I met Roy, I didn't recognize him, he was just a regular guy. When I told him I wasn't sure who he was, he sang a few bars of several songs. It was awesome! Every song he sang, I recognized, and said to Roy,"I love that song too! I didn't know you sang ALL those songs!" It was like my own personal late night TV commercial. He REALLY appreciated each and every fan especially if they were buying his records! I see all the songs he sang to me listed in the MUSIC section, and then some.
When he was singing to me, I was a little embarrassed, because I was dirt poor, dirty and smelly. Roy said he didn't mind me standing beside him, it was alright. While we were standing at the end of the beer line, he said,"At the end of the line, when we meet our maker, He won't care what kind of car you drive, or what clothes you wear." After a moment, he continued,"That sounds like a song!"
Summer of 2009, a friend gave me his old 'Traveling Wilburys' Tape, and it was just like Roy was there with me, giving good advice in songs. It's currently my favorite tape!
